At The Pattern Cloud, we love to spotlight studios who inspire us with their creativity and adaptability. This month, we caught up with Helen Pegge, the founder of Jack Jones Design, who has been part of The Pattern Cloud journey for almost a decade. With a rich history rooted in traditional face-to-face selling, Helen has recently taken the bold step of going fully digital - and we were curious to hear all about it.

Creative Roots & Inspiration

After graduating from the RCA in 1991, Helen launched Jack Jones Design in 1995 with a clear vision: to create her own collection, travel to meet customers, and grow the business from those foundations.

Inspiration comes from everywhere - vintage shops, flea markets, films, historical costume, street fashion, and of course the runway. But what makes her work stand out is how she lets imagination take those influences into unexpected places.

When asked to describe her design style in just three words, Helen didn’t hesitate:
👉 “Commercial but exciting!”

The Shift to Digital

After decades of in-person meetings and trade show appointments, Helen has embraced a new way of working: taking her studio fully digital.

“My heart was aching with the waste and cost involved in selling face to face. It is time for a change.”

Previously, she showcased designs at trade shows, through direct customer visits, Zoom appointments, and a Pattern Cloud-hosted website. But the biggest challenge? Convincing clients to trust their judgement on screen as much as they would in person.

Now, Helen says the transition has been liberating:

👉 “I have WAY more time to be creative.”

The Pattern Cloud Connection

Jack Jones Design has been with The Pattern Cloud for 7 - 8 years, and the platform has played a vital role in their digital evolution.

“We couldn’t do it without you, although along the way we have also used other digital forms of presentations.”

With a 24/7 online presence, Helen has been able to connect with clients and markets around the globe. Customers can browse and buy designs whenever it suits them, and the results speak volumes:

👉 “Yes, we have multiple new sign ups every week, resulting from both our marketing and that of TPC.”

What’s Next for Jack Jones Design?

With the transition to digital complete, Helen is looking ahead to new projects and opportunities. While some are still under wraps, one thing is certain - the studio’s focus on creativity, accessibility, and innovation will continue to inspire the design community.

A Final Thought

Helen Pegge’s story is one of adaptation and reinvention - proof that even the most established studios can evolve to meet the demands of a changing industry. At The Pattern Cloud, we’re proud to have supported her journey and can’t wait to see what comes next for Jack Jones Design.
